The FITEL S185PMROF has three electrodes (ROF: Ring of Fire®) instead of the standard two electrodes. This arc-discharging makes the plasma field uniformly wider and enables splicing large diameter fibers up to 800μm cladding diameter. This unique arc-discharging can heat fibers uniformly and reduce the splice loss of the fibers with dissimilar cladding diameters. In addition, polarization alignment function added, S185PMROF is capable of splicing large diameter polarization maintaining fibers.
